The project provides highway with a chain of advanced radar sensors able to continuously detect, with even zero visibility, the position of every vehicle and follow them in their trajectory.
Like air traffic control centers the radar detectors, installed regularly every three kilometers, relay information to each other on the vehicles that each of them has targeted in the stretch of highway they monitor.
The information arrives at the Traffic Control Center through fiber-optic lines. Here, the information is automatically analyzed, and this allows the Center to notice the occurrence of accidents in real time, in addition to monitoring traffic comprehensively: the radar is able to detect for example whether there are stopped vehicles, whether two vehicles have collided, and whether a vehicle has gone off the road.
